We are always interested in working with new lawyers! Email us if you are interested in joining our network!
The UC Merced Law Clinic is proud to be the only student-run law clinic in the United States! We work hard to offer UC Merced students the opportunity to access quality legal assistance in times of need, and to help give them confidence to advocate for themselves.
Our purpose at the UC Merced Law Clinic is to offer students free legal advice from practicing lawyers in circumstances where students are defenseless and unaware of their rights. The law clinic also hosts several "Know Your Rights" events every year to inform students of their rights in various legal fields. In the past, we have held events presenting lawyers from a multitude of expertises- from criminal rights to disability rights. In the future, we will be expanding into new territory and offering workshops concerning Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, helping UC Merced students who immigrated to the United States at a young age file paperwork allowing them to qualify for in-state tuition. We are able to offer this comprehensive service thanks to the generace grant awarded to us by Dr. Charles Nies, vice chancellor at UC Merced.
Our long-term vision is to continue to expand the law clinic state-wide. We are always looking for lawyers across California to take an interest in our cause. Additionally, we want to continue creating a network of pre-law students at UC Merced and the legal community in Merced, and help this community flourish outside of Merced in hopes of helping other fellow UC campuses create a clinic of their own. If you are an attorney in the state of California and are interested in being part of our network, and by extension an excellent cause, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would be very interested in working with you!
