UC Merced Review Period Statement

April 10, 2018

Dear student body,

On Monday, February 26th, the Undergraduate Council (UGC) voted to approve a proposal that was authored through the collaborative efforts of the Associated Students of UC Merced (ASUCM) and Health Promotion. For the past few years, Health Promotion interns and ASUCM Directors of Academic Affairs have worked together to initiate a Review Period at UC Merced. A Review Period is a set number of non-instructional days between when “Formal Classes End” and the first day of “Final Examinations”, in which finals or cumulative exams, final papers, and presentations (in substitute of) are not allowed to be administered.

Starting in Spring 2019, UC Merced will begin piloting a Review Period to determine its efficacy in practice. More information about this pedagogical change, including the number of days in the Review Period, will be coming in the weeks to follow. Please see the attached document for our full statement.

Additionally, we will be hosting an info session regarding a Review Period at UC Merced on Tuesday, April 24th from 5 - 6pm in the Bobcat Lair. If you have any questions or concerns, please attend this event. See the attached flyer for more information.

You can find the full statement about review week here
