Quick Update for what I’ve been doing as a senator
-I’m currently working with Connie in OSL (who processes purchase orders) to see how we could better inform clubs/ organizations about the timeline when requesting funding. I know that some clubs have had issues with their event date being too close to receive funding.
-As the chair of budget and finance, my committee and I are looking into revising the financial by-laws which are contradictory & difficult to understand.
-I was appointed as the AS representative for the Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Women. We have not had our first meeting yet but when we do I will have more to report.
-Yesterday I had a meeting with the Undergraduate Organizing Director for the University of California Student Association about my work with the IGNITE campaign. We talked about ways to make the campaign successful on the campus of UC Merced, getting an IGNITE committee started, and the possibility of hosting an IGNITE campaign conference on our campus.
-I have also been working on trying to bring student recruitment and retention centers to UC Merced. I’ve been put in contact with other students at UC Berkeley that work in recruitment and retention centers on their campus to get a better idea of how they run/ function.
