Marissa Martinez was born in Montebello, CA and raised in Santa Ana CA. She is a third year Sociology major with a minor in Political Science and aspires to help advocate for at-risk youth once back home once she graduates. Marissa's experience comes mainly from organizing under the External Office of ASUCM and she proudly brings all of her identities (being a Queer Womxn of Color) to the senate table. Her personal experience with mental illness and food insecurity has led her to advocate for student wellness/mental health on campus and food insecurity for students both on and off campus. She also plans to collaborate with different offices and orgs like the CARE office to help provide support for students struggling with substance abuse. Marissa believes that the title as Senator is a continuous process that she will strive to achieve throughout her term in office. She commits to continuously be held accountable by communities on campus and strive to provide the resources accessible to her through this title.
