Bill # 07 Students Fight Back
Background: “Students Fight Back” is a seminar that acknowledges crime and violence as “a campus concern, with a campus solution.” It is for both men and women college students and aims to bring the UC Merced campus together as a community to end violence. In “Students Fight Back,” students learn how to detect violent people, trust intuition, and look out for the safety of fellow students. A team of professionally trained speakers and self-defense instructors will review ways to reduce the risk of being victimized and how to secure residence hall rooms/apartments from break-ins. An interactive physical self-defense instruction will conclude the seminar, and anyone, regardless of size, will learn practical and effective self-defense strategies. There is no limit to number of attendees (except that which is posed by the campus venue reserved), and students will laugh, learn, feel empowered and become his/her own bodyguard.
